The studio is a person

Tokyo, 2026 — field research absolutely counts.

SuperCala is a one-person software studio — every product on this site was designed, built, shipped, and is run day to day by me. Before this: twenty-plus years as a C/C++ engineer shipping games and game engines, from Brisbane to World of Warcraft at Blizzard Entertainment. When this site says "built by the person who writes the code," this is that person.

The longer version

Twenty years of shipped games

I started in games in Brisbane, Australia, finishing my QUT degree part-time because I was already working in a studio. The credits stacked up from there: The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning, Viva Piñata: Party Animals, Star Wars: The Clone Wars — Lightsaber Duels, Legend of the Guardians, the official London 2012 Olympics game, Castle of Illusion, and the Otherland MMORPG. Game engines are an unforgiving school: frame budgets measured in milliseconds, native code, and no patch day that saves you from a launch-day crowd.

World of Warcraft

By day I'm still deep in WoW's engine at Blizzard Entertainment. I built a graphical shader editor and compiler — think Unreal's material editor — along with much of the engine pipeline behind the new shader and material system, and was instrumental in the editor for the new model format, including a timeline editor for authoring property animations alongside skeletal animations imported from 3ds Max. For the Player Housing update I handled a stack of the low-level engine work: the placement grid and blueprint shaders, the furniture dye system, the highlighting system for placeable structures, texture swapping for walls, floors, and ceilings, and a system that blends housing buildings in and out on the world map as your character gets close.

SuperCala: AI systems that hold a job

SuperCala is my own studio, built and run alongside the day job, and it's where that engineering goes to work for businesses: a receptionist that answers every call, agents that quote, invoice, follow up, and keep the books straight, and bespoke AI employees that take over a manual role end to end. The voice agent on this site is my work; so is everything it's wired into. If you want proof before a conversation, just talk to it.

Self-funded, deliberately small

The studio is self-funded from Waxhaw, North Carolina — no investors, no growth theater, no pressure to pretend a bad idea is working. Small is the feature: you talk to the person who builds the thing, decisions take minutes instead of meetings, and the software ships in weeks because there's no process between the conversation and the code.
